Don Martin Pinedo Acuña
Don Martin is an Alto Misayoc, which is one of the highest ranks in Andean Shamanism. An amazing seer (clairvoyant), he performs daily coca leaf readings, healings, cleansings, extractions, and purifications for the in Wasao, his local community and people from abroad. Born into a modest peasant family in the Andean community of Paccopata in the province of Paruro, he was 10 years old when first visited by the Condor, the spiritual Apu of the Andes which also became his spiritual name. Don Martin is married to Maria Sanchez, who is the granddaughter of Don Melchor Deza, a powerful shaman from Wasao Cusco-Peru, and she is also the niece of another famous shaman, Don Melchor’s student Wasao Don Benito Corihuaman, under whom Don Martin studied and received his Karpays, or transmission of energy. He has been practicing Andean medicine for over 25 years and travels with Marco Nunez to the US conducting workshops and private healings.
Doña Julia Farfan Carazas:
Born and raised in the Inka fort of Ollantaytambo Cusco-Peru, Doña Julia learned Andean shamanic ways as a little girl from her grandmother, the famous shaman Maximiliana Herrera. Beginning her training as her grandmother’s assistant, she has learned all the traditions and local indigenous herbs of the Andes, earning her the title of Maichera (one who works with herbs). After being healed in the dream state during a serious illness, Doña Julia began practicing her grandmother’s medicine ways. When her own son became ill, she experienced a powerful connection with the star system Sirius while meditating. She knew intuitively that this was a sign to begin healing people. As a shaman at Ollantaytambo, Doña Julia does healing work for the native people as charity, and also works with Frontier Expeditions to share her amazing gifts. When she performs vibrational healings she uses her powerful voice to balance charkras and removes Hucha (heavy energy). In her herbal work, she specializes in flowering baths, despachos, and soul retrievals.
Marco Nuñez Zamalloa
Marco was born and raised in Cusco-Peru, and his family comes from Anta Province near Cusco. Living on his grandparents farmland, he awakened to the call of the Apus (mountain spirits) and Pachamama (mother earth) at an early age. At the age of 16 Marco began working in tourism, exploring the jungles of Peru on foot and by boat. Later, he lead expeditions in the Andes through Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador, trekking nearly 30,000 miles over the last 30 years. Marco studied business administration and tourism at San Antonia Abad del Cusco University. He speaks five languages and is a professional tour conductor, having owned his own tour company for many years. Marco is the facilitator and interpreter for the group, and is currently studying to be an Andean shaman.
Isabel Chinguel and Olinda (assistant)
Isabel, from Singo in the province of Huancabamba, and Olinda, from Huancabamba village are soul twins, also known as Yanatin-Masintin. For 25 years, they have practiced northern ancestral medicine in the city of Chiclayo. Their wonderful working relationship allows them to heal many kinds of terminal illnesses. Traveling to Huancabamba with their clients, Isabel and Olinda always make use of the sacred waters of the magical Huaringas lakes. In their work, they do San Pedro ceremonies, use cards for diagnosis, practice herbalism, and do flowering baths as well.
